Thinking back to the recent controversy on the wiretapping bill that the government wants to scheduling by July 29, I'm thinking the author Francis Fukuyama and his thesis about the end of history. According to the American political scientist, of which many things I do not agree, the engine of historical events is nothing more than democracy. Progress, to use a humanistic term, would result in democracy but not an end in itself, but the exercise of the memory of the people: it can man from the experiences of the peoples of the past to achieve more advanced. Personally, I prefer the concept of History of Thucydides, for whom the past is the result of what has already happened, but also the basis of orientation for the future, because we live in what is already a core of understanding for what could be.
